With only four matchdays remaining, the race for the 2024-25 LaLiga title is heating up. Real Madrid and Barcelona are at the top of the table in a tense and unexpected final stretch

This is how LaLiga’s accounts stand

El Clasico could tip the balance, but not everything depends on that direct clash: the remaining schedule and consistency will be key. With 12 points still to play for, Real Madrid are four points behind Barcelona (79 vs. 75). To be crowned champions without depending on anyone else, Barca must win three of their last four games

If Real Madrid win the Clasico on May 11 at the Camp Nou, they would cut the gap to just one point, which would open the door to a possible comeback in the following matches.

Real Madrid @ Barcelona – PRD Game Preview for May 11, 2025 10:15 ET

Remaining scheduleReal Madrid:

  • Matchday 35: vs Real Madrid (11/05)
  • Matchday 36: vs Espanyol (15/05)
  • Matchday 37: vs Villarreal (18/05)
  • Matchday 38: vs Athletic Club (25/05)

Barcelona:

  • Matchday 35: vs Barcelona (11/05)
  • Matchday 36: vs Mallorca (14/05)
  • Matchday 37: vs Sevilla (18/05)
  • Matchday 38: vs Real Sociedad (25/05)

Madrid need to beat the Catalans and hope for at least one more slip-up from Barca in their other three games (Espanyol, Villarreal and Athletic)

In turn, Real Madrid must win the four games they have left (Barcelona, Mallorca, Sevilla and Real Sociedad). A draw for Barcelona, combined with a full Madrid victory, could also be enough thanks to the goal difference.

This is the table in Matchday 34

  1. Barcelona – 79 pts
  2. Real Madrid – 75 pts
  3. Atletico Madrid – 67 pts
  4. Athletic Club – 61 pts
  5. Villarreal – 58 pts
  6. Real Betis – 57 pts
  7. Celta Vigo – 46 pts
  8. Rayo Vallecano – 44 pts
  9. Osasuna – 44 pts
  10. Mallorca – 44 pts
  11. Real Sociedad – 43 pts
  12. Valencia – 42 pts
  13. Getafe – 39 pts
  14. Espanyol – 39 pts
  15. Girona – 38 pts
  16. Sevilla – 38 pts
  17. Alaves – 35 pts
  18. Las Palmas – 32 pts
  19. Leganes – 31 pts
  20. Valladolid – 16 pts

On paper, Real Madrid has a less complex schedule than Barcelona in the final rounds of LaLiga. However, anything can happen and the least expected match is the one that can tip the balance one way or the other
