An underrated part of Bayern Munich’s championship season is leaving…
Eric Dier has been one of Bayern Munich best acquisitions in recent season simply because he has accepted his role, embraced the German football culture, and integrated seamlessly into the locker room.
Now, though, Dier will move on to AS Monaco, but not before hoisting the Meisterschale to complete a very strong season.
After the match, Dier said that he attempted to reach an accord with Bayern Munich, but it was just not meant to be.
“I have a good relationship with the club here. We talked, but couldn’t reach an agreement. Then I started looking around,” Dier told kicker journalist Georg Holzner (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
The relationship between Dier and Bayern Munich was mutually beneficial as it gave the player a new lease on his career, while the club was able to have a solid, veteran presence, who performed better than anyone could have hoped.
It does not always work out that way, but this time — for both Dier and Bayern Munich — it surely did.
