Die Folgen: Bayern’s 2-0 win over Gladbach (Bavarian Football Works)

Bayern Munich took down Borussia Mönchengladbach 2-0 in a match that the Bavarians were in complete control of from start to finish.

It was a proper send off for Thomas Müller and Eric Dier and a great way to end the home season in the Bundesliga. Bayern Munich will finish up the league schedule with Hoffenheim next week, but we have plenty to chatr about with this match, so let’s get to it.

Here are some quick hitters on the match:

  • As always, let’s begin with the starting XI:

Here’s how we line up against Borussia Mönchengladbach.

  • Vincent Kompany did a great job with his lineup. Starting Thomas Müller was a must and the coach read the room properly. Otherwise, there were some interesting selections as Raphaël Guerreiro was deemed healthy enough to start, while Leon Goretzka got the somewhat surprising nod over Aleksandar Pavlović. Kingsley Coman started over both Leroy Sané and Serge Gnabry.
  • The atmosphere was absolutely buzzing at the Allianz Arena. The pregame ceremony honoring Müller and Eric Dier was done with class.
  • Bayern Munich was dominant from the outset and it seemed like it was only a matter of time before it broke through. That would happen in the 31st minute when Michael Olise continued his torrid season and whipped a shot in toward the net that Harry Kane got the back of his head on for a perfect flick and a 1-0 lead.
  • Manuel Neuer was sensational on the day in his return.
  • You cannot really comprehend how great the crowd and atmosphere was. The arena was just buzzing.
  • Bayern Munich was looking to try and get a goal, but it just wasn’t to be (there was not the same magic that Arjen Robben and Franck Ribéry had).
  • In the 60th minute, Neuer showed he still has those dynamic reflexes by stopping Rocco Reitz. Reitz was very impressive in the match and looks like he is living up to his billing as one of Germany’s top talents.
  • In the 64th minute Pavlović, who subbed in for a banged up Josip Stanišić, almost gave Bayern a 2-0 lead.
  • In the 79th minute (Tim Kleindienst) and 80th minute (Kevin Stöger), Neuer was, again, tested and stood tall. What a game for the veteran!
  • Olise would end up getting a goal at the 90’ mark, cementing an awesome day for the Bavarians.
  • Overall, this was what everyone wanted to see. It would have been the icing on the cake to get a goal for Müller, but it was still a great effort and a nice way to kick off the championship celebration.

Bisseck getting a lot of interest (ESPN)

Inter Milan defender and Germany international Yann Bisseck is getting interest from Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United and Everton:

Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United and Everton are among the clubs tracking Internazionale defender Yann Bisseck, Rudy Galetti has revealed. The Germany international is appreciated throughout Europe, and Inter Milan could be willing to sanction his exit if a suitable offer arrives in the summer. Bisseck, 24, has been instrumental in his side’s run to the UEFA Champions League final, having featured in every match on the road to Munich. He is under contract at San Siro until June 2029.

Frimpong to LFC? (@FabrizioRomano)

Liverpool FC could be poised to make a move on Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong:

Liverpool are well informed on Jeremie Frimpong situation and how the installments are defined for his €35/40m release clause.

He remains one of the main names on the shortlist to replace Trent with Frimpong expected to be eventually keen on the move.

Ribéry talks Müller and Neuer (FCBayern.com via @iMiaSanMia)

Bayern Munich legend Franck Ribéry recently took some time to talk about his old mates, Manuel Neuer and Thomas Müller.

“They are two absolute legends; what they achieved will never be forgotten. For me, Manuel is the best goalkeeper the world has ever seen. And Thomas is a truly great player who has won so much. I hope he sticks around for at least another year, too,” Ribéry said.

Ekitiké leaving Eintracht? (ESPN)

It appears that Eintracht Frankfurt’s attack will have a whole new look next season. After selling Omar Marmoush last winter, Hugo Ekitiké could be the next player to exit:

Fabrizio Romano reports that Hugo Ekitiké will leave Eintracht Frankfurt this summer, with various top cubs having already made contact about a move for the highly touted striker. Big names from the Premier League have approached representatives for both the player and club, although the 22-year-old wants to focus on securing UEFA Champions League football for the Bundesliga club before deciding his future.

Alonso wants Huijsen at Madrid (talkSport)

Xabi Alonso is already showing he is ready for Real Madrid by upping his taste for the finer things in life — like Bournemouth center-back Dean Huijsen:

Incoming Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso is interested in signing Dean Huijsen this summer, talkSPORT understands.

Bayer Leverkusen confirmed Alonso’s departure on Friday – with the former midfielder expected to replace Carlo Ancelotti at the Bernabeu.

Meanwhile, Bournemouth star Huijsen has become one of the most sought-after centre-backs in European football amid his success in the Premier League.

talkSPORT reported last month that Chelsea have stepped up their interest in Huijsen, who has a £50m release clause. Arsenal and Tottenham have also held talks, but it is understood that Liverpool are his preferred Premier League club.
