The Senegal international charged into Sven Botman with his elbow in the 35th minute, leaving John Brooks with no choice but to show the striker a straight red card after VAR advised him to take another look on the screen.

It means the Chelsea No.15 will miss the final two Premier League games of the 2024/25 campaign – including a crucial clash against Nottingham Forest – something Enzo Maresca will surely be very disappointed about.

However, a straight red card results in a suspension for three games, leaving many to wonder whether the ban for Nicolas Jackson carries over into next season.

Nicolas Jackson ban does carry over into the 2025/26 campaign

Unfortunately for the man born in Djibonker, he will have to serve the third and final match of his ban next season.

The FA (Football Association) do not wipe the slate clean once a campaign comes to an end, meaning Jackson will be unavailable for selection in Chelsea’s first game of the 2025/26 Premier League campaign.

Chelsea may have already moved on by that stage

Chelsea were relying on the 23-year-old to deliver in the final two games of the season, but that may not be the case next season.

Chelsea are believed to be unhappy with Jackson and his performances this season, where he has scored just ten goals in 30 Premier League appearances, and are considering a move for RB Leipzig No.30 Benjamin Sesko as a replacement.

Worryingly, the Senegalese frontman only has one goal in 14 Premier League games since the start of the New Year.

Interestingly, John Obi Mikel thinks Chelsea must replace Jackson if they ever want to win the Premier League again.

Therefore, the fact this ban carries over into next season might not actually end up being a problem for Chelsea whatsoever, if a new striker arrives in the transfer window.
