Despite a valiant effort last weekend in the Old Firm derby, Rangers have yet to return to winning ways since their edgy 4-3 win against Dundee back in March. Barry Ferguson fielded a strong lineup this afternoon, and the Gers did not disappoint the Ibrox crowd en route to scripting a commanding 4-0 victory thanks to Vaclav Cerny, Cyriel Dessers, Hamza Igamanea and Jefte’s second-half strikes.
Below are the Rangers players rated in their 4-0 win against Aberdeen.
Liam Kelly: 8
Made some crucial saves against the run of play en route to securing a rare clean sheet after weeks of agony and anguish. Looked confident with his high claims and distribution.
James Tavernier: 8
Relentless down the right with his trademark overlapping runs, crosses and cut-insides. Created the most chances in the match, which, however, were not converted by the attackers.
John Souttar: 7.5
Besides being spot on with his tackles and dominating the duels, the Scotsman showed his passing excellence from the heart of the backline.
Leon Balogun: 8
Contained Oday Dabbagh and Kevin Nisbet with his positioning and game-reading traits. Was also found making with-the-ball runs before being replaced by Neraysho Kasanwirjo late in the match.
Jefte: 8.5
Bizarrely netted his first-ever Rangers goal after over 50 appearances in his maiden campaign. A lacklustre performance from the Dons allowed him to be a bit more adventurous in the second half.
Connor Barron: 7.5
Regained possession with timely tackles, recoveries and duels. Never let his former side settle in and gain control in the centre of the pitch.
Nicolas Raskin: 9
Another majestic performance from the midfield maestro who set it up for Cerny with a through ball ten minutes into the second half. His stunning cross resulted in Dessers’ goal around the hour mark. Was replaced by Tom Lawrence late in the match.
Vaclav Cerny: 8.5
Looked lively down the right after a few frustrating outings. Forced Dimitar Mitov to make a save in the first half, and eventually broke the deadlock after the break with a fine finish. His late strike deflected off Jefte moments before the final whistle.
Mohamed Diomande: 7
Operated more as a midfield attacker. Created chances from in and around the box by dominating the pockets and half spaces in the Aberdeen half. Was not risked after a booking as he made way for Bailey Rice in the centre of the pitch.
Nedim Bajrami: 6
Made a few dribbling attempts while featuring from the left. However, his lack of decision-making and below-par final deliveries saw Ferguson take him off at the break for Hamza Igamane.
Cyriel Dessers: 7.5
Wasted a few opportunities in the first half but exhibited his poaching attribute by finding the net yet again. Was subbed off for Danilo late in the tie.

Played too little to warrant a rating.
