Arsenal are now reacting to a disappointing end to the 2024/25 campaign.
The Gunners have signed Martin Zubimendi in a £50m move from Real Sociedad – a deal which has seemingly been in the pipeline since January – which provides Mikel Arteta with a top central midfielder to add to his squad.
Arsenal do – however – still need a striker, having been forced to rely on Mikel Merino in that area for almost the entirety of the second half of the season, following injuries to Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz.
Now, Andrea Berta – Director of Football at the Emirates Stadium – is turning his attention towards this issue, with a bid made for Viktor Gyokeres.
Arsenal bid for Viktor Gyokeres
Correio da Manha are now claiming that Arsenal have submitted an opening offer for the Sweden international.
Gyokeres – who is in contention to win the European Golden Boot this season with a remarkable haul of 52 goals in 50 games – now finds himself the subject of a €75m (£63m) offer from Arsenal, who have already agreed personal terms with the prolific frontman.

However, the Portuguese news outlet adds that Frederico Varandas – President of Sporting CP – feels he can get more for the Swede, who has a release clause worth €100m (£85m), so Arsenal may have to return to the negotiating table.
Interestingly, Correio da Manha add that Arsenal have made their early move in fear of Chelsea swooping in to sign Gyokeres by triggering his release clause.
Chelsea are not the only potential threat for Arsenal
The Sporting CP No.9 also scored 43 goals in 50 appearances last season, so his efforts this term are no fluke.
As a result, many clubs are looking at the 26-year-old, including the Red Devils.
Manchester United are also keen to sign Gyokeres along with Arsenal and Chelsea, and Ruben Amorim may hold an advantage through the fact he knows the striker well, having managed him in Lisbon.

The man born in Stockholm scored 66 goals in 68 appearances under Amorim for Sporting CP – while also providing 23 assists – so the pair certainly click together.
Therefore, you can understand why Arsenal are trying to get this deal wrapped up as soon as possible.
