After two years away, Bielefeld have returned to Bundesliga 2 after one of the most exciting campaigns in the club’s history.
The story of 2024/25
Mitch Kniat’s side owe much of their success in the third division to their home form, losing just three of 18 games at the SchücoArena so far, while they have also picked up an impressive 31 points on the road.
They have scored for fun at one end and kept it tight at the other, netting three or more goals on 10 occasions, and keeping 12 clean sheets in the process.
Those attributes, coupled with their hard-running style and never-say-die attitude have helped them reach this season’s DFB Cup final against VfB Stuttgart, having knocked out four Bundesliga teams on the way in Union Berlin, Freiburg, Werder Bremen and holders Bayer Leverkusen.
