Arsenal have opened discussions with Leandro Trossard over a new contract.
Signed from Brighton in the 2023 January transfer window, his current deal has a year to run at the end of this season, and he had been linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League. Last September the Gunners turned down a bid from Al-Ittihad for the Belgian international.
But now he has been offered a new deal that would keep him in London until 2029. That is much longer than Arsenal typically offers to players who are 30 or above, but his high level of fitness is a contributing factor in the decision.
Trossard has made 27 starts in the Premier League this season, scoring eight goals and providing six assists.
The news may concern Arsenal fans who want the club to sign another winger this summer, especially with the news that the Gunners are also looking to tie-down Gabriel Mertinelli to Aa contract extension at the same time.
