Leroy Sane is willing to accept a reduced wage to sign a new contract with Bayern Munich this summer, TBR Football can reveal.
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta knows Leroy Sane well from their days working together at Manchester City alongside Pep Guardiola.
And given that the German’s contract is currently set to expire in the summer, Arsenal have held talks with Sane to explore a possible move.
Sane has scored 11 goals in 29 Bundesliga games this season and the 29-year-old has enjoyed a much improved fitness record since Vincent Kompany’s arrival.
The two-time Premier League winner has played 44 games across all competitions for Bayern, explaining why he’s back on the radar of clubs like Arsenal.
Leroy Sane ready to stay at Bayern despite Arsenal talks
That being said, TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey understands that Bayern remain confident of signing Sane to a new deal.
As part of the two parties’ negotiations, Sane has accepted that he won’t be getting a repeat of his current wages, which stand at around €15m a season.

Sane is willing to accept a slight pay cut at €12m, but Bayern are only offering €10m as things stand.
As mentioned, Sane has held discussions with Arsenal alongside a number of Premier League clubs.
However, TBR understands that Sane’s camp have not received any offers and the winger does want to stay within an ‘elite’ set-up.
As well as Arsenal, talks have also taken place with Chelsea, however, it’s become clear that Sane’s preference was seemingly to stay with Bayern.
Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United and Aston Villa were approached by intermediaries earlier in the year, but again nothing was taken further.
Bayern might cause Arsenal an issue with Nico Williams
As things stand, there’s an expectation from Premier clubs that Sane is unlikely to be available this summer — they think the Germany international will stay at Bayern, who paid £55m to sign him back in 2020.
However, Bayern do want an answer soon, and they have informed Sane that they have other targets they want to look at.
One of those is Nico Williams at Athletic Club in Spain, a player who is also very high up on Arsenal’s shortlist.
Andrea Berta has held talks with Williams and it’s long been understood that the Spanish winger is Arteta’s dream signing out wide.
Williams would rather sign for Barcelona than Arsenal as things stand, but that doesn’t rule out a move to the Emirates Stadium over the next few months.
