Liverpool was 2-0 up and cruising at half-time against Arsenal and then an action-packed second half, in which Trent Alexander-Arnold was booed, the Gunners scored twice, and Mikel Merino was sent off, saw the game come to life.
With just two games remaining of this season, Liverpool has already begun to look to the summer. And it could be a busy period as Arne Slot seeks to upgrade his roster.
Here is the Liverpool.com verdict on the transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds today. We start with a potential replacement for Alexander-Arnold, with Conor Bradley unable to do that role on his own.
Vanderson (AS Monaco)
Trent Alexander-Arnold will be leaving Liverpool in the summer but there is a big question mark attached to how Liverpool replace such a unique talent. Doing so directly will be impossible.
According to the French outlet L’Equipe, AS Monaco full-back Vanderson, the Brazilian, is one option under consideration. Jeremie Frimpong at Bayer Leverkusen, Liverpool.com has previously reported, is also someone who the Reds have run the rule over.
Vanderson, 23, has been at Monaco for three and a half years. He is under contract until 2028, however, and the Ligue 1 side is under no desperate need to sell. Tottenham has also been linked with a move for him with a valuation of around $34 million (£25 million) touted.
Liverpool.com says: Signing someone to help out Conor Bradley in taking over from Alexander-Arnold will be vital for Liverpool. It needs to have enough depth; the only question is how it goes about that.
Six stars with uncertain futures
Liverpool could sell more than nine players this summer with Tyler Morton, Federico Chiesa and Kostas Tsimikas among those whose futures are in doubt at Anfield.
That is according to the Liverpool ECHO, who note that there has also been speculation surrounding Joe Gomez, Wataru Endo, Ibrahima Konate, Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, Harvey Elliott, Diogo Jota, Andy Robertson, Caoimhin Kelleher and Jarell Quansah.
The Italian publication Corriere Dello Sport, meanwhile, reports that Nunez has emerged as a target for Napoli. Antonio Conte’s side is on course to win Serie A and wants to further bolsters its ranks in the summer with the Uruguayan and Kevin De Bruyne.
Liverpool.com says: There could definitely be a period of overhaul in Slot’s roster this summer. The Dutch head coach has had enough time now to work out who he wants and where he thinks he could improve. It could be a big transfer window.
