Manchester United fear they might be about to lose the race to sign Viktor Gyokeres with Arsenal pushing hard to land the striker.
Arsenal and Manchester United are both looking at number nine options this summer and the Swede is a player the two Premier League giants are tracking.
The 26-year-old is enjoying a brilliant season in Portugal having now netted 52 goals in 50 matches for Sporting CP who are strong contenders to win the double.
But in the summer, the Portuguese club are set to lose their talismanic striker, with Arsenal hoping to beat Manchester United to the punch to sign.
Manchester United start eyeing Viktor Gyokeres alternatives
Manchester United have started to look at Viktor Gyokeres alternatives as they fear Arsenal are favourites to sign him, according to Sky Sport.
The Red Devils are concerned by the Gunners’ lead in the race to sign Gyokeres and have therefore started looking at other options.
Andrea Berta is confident Gyokeres is the right man for Arsenal and the sporting director has been working hard to make sure a deal is ready to go in the summer.
Liverpool are also in the frame for Gyokeres and will attempt to move for him should the Swede’s fellow countryman, Alexander Isak, prove unattainable.
Manchester United sound out Moise Kean
One of the players that Manchester United have been looking at as an alternative is Moise Kean from Fiorentina, according to the same report.
The Italian is keen to return to the Premier League and attempt to prove himself in England following his tricky spell at Everton.
United have contacted the player’s representatives over recent weeks, and they have informed United that he would consider an offer should they have Champions League football and make him a big salary offer.
The 25-year-old has a £42 million release clause with Fiorentina, although this is only active from July 1 to July 15, so interested clubs will need to act decisively.
