Arne Slot and his Liverpool side have ultimately been too consistent for Arsenal to compete with this season.
Glancing at the Premier League table, the biggest discrepancy between Liverpool and Arsenal is the amount of games that Mikel Arteta’s side have drawn.
Arsenal have also lost one more game than Liverpool, but it’s the amount of games the Gunners have drawn that has really killed their title hopes.

Of course, many believe that comes down to Arsenal needing to sign a striker — a statement that was often even made during Arsene Wenger’s tenure.
And whilst Liverpool haven’t had a prolific number nine themselves this season, they have had Mohamed Salah on the wing scoring 28 Premier League goals.
Arne Slot comments on Arsenal’s approach
That being said, Slot actually noticed some similarities between Liverpool and Arsenal when speaking to BBC Radio 5 after Sunday’s 2-2 draw.
Slot was convinced that Sunday’s contest between the Premier League’s two top sides would have been an excellent watch for a neutral.

The Dutchman commented on how both teams played ‘attacking football’ throughout, two sides who should also be in the title conversation next season.
Slot said: “Great game of football. We wanted to win, they wanted to win, let that be clear.
“Mikel Arteta has been at Arsenal much longer, but we both feel it is important that the fans like what they see.
“Both teams played attacking football, tried to press high, tried to play out from the back, did everything that makes football a nice game to watch.
“Everyone, if you are a Liverpool or Arsenal fan, or even if you’re not a fan of one of these two teams, you would have liked what they saw today.”
The race to sign Alexander Isak
Interestingly, Gabriel Martinelli commented on Liverpool and how they played at Anfield too, a close duel between two top sides.
As mentioned, both teams do need to sign a striker this summer in order to compete with the likes of Manchester City next term, who will undoubtedly come back stronger.
Therefore, both Liverpool and Arsenal want to sign Alexander Isak from Newcastle, even if he is likely to stay on Tyneside.
Newcastle want to keep Isak at St James’ Park and they’re willing to offer the Sweden international a groundbreaking contract to do so.
A difficult summer for Richard Hughes and Andrea Berta to get right at their respective clubs, but it’s believed that both sides have a significant amount of funds available to work with.
