Success in the Europa League final would bail out Amorim’s side, rewarding them with Champions League football next season, which would ultimately be a success.

Although the standards that are attached to a club of United’s stature are much higher than their current state, Amorim can only be fairly judged after a summer transfer window, which gives the 40-year-old ample opportunity to assemble a squad suited to his style.

It’s fair to say the Portuguese manager has enjoyed mixed results since replacing Ten Hag at the helm of United in November 2024.

However, the results don’t lie and if the club’s form continues in a similar fashion next year, it would be hard to imagine Amorim retaining his post.
