Arsenal’s top priority this summer is clear, they need to sign a new striker.
Indeed, Arsenal have fallen short in both the Premier League and the Champions League this season, and their lack of firepower has been a big problem.

Kai Havertz has been injured recently, and while Mikel Merino has earned praise up front, he’s not a natural number nine.
Luckily, summer is on the horizon, and Arsenal have a few targets in mind.
Alexander Isak is an Arsenal target, while, for a long time, we’ve heard that Arsenal are big fans of Benjamin Sesko.
However, according to David Ornstein, speaking to NBC, Arsenal are now starting to have some reservations about signing Sesko based on his price and his attributes as a player.
Arsenal are having Benjamin Sesko reservations
Ornstein shared what he knows about Arsenal’s summer transfer plans.
According to the pundit, Benjamin Sesko is indeed on Arsenal’s radar this summer, but the Gunners are having reservations about the £60m man due to his price and his relative ability.
“Arsenal’s recruitment plans are vast and at the top of the list is a number nine. There are fewer of them on the market than they would like, but there are some options,” Ornstein said.
“Alexander Isak, of course, Arsenal and Mikel Arteta really like him. But I don’t think that’s realistic for them or anybody else.
“Then they look at the likes of Benjamin Sesko. They’ve done a lot of work on him, but I do think they have some reservations around him, maybe on the price, maybe on the player, but he remains in the mix, as does Viktor Gyokeres of Sporting Lisbon, huge reports from myself and others about him.”
Arsenal signings from the Bundesliga
Arsenal have some reservations about signing Sesko, and, in a lot of ways, it’s easy to understand why.
Indeed, strikers in other leagues don’t often translate well to Premier League football, especially from the Bundesliga.

Timo Werner | Chelsea, Tottenham |
Christopher Nkunku | Chelsea |
Sebastien Haller | West Ham |
Joelinton (before moving into midfield) | Newcastle |
Niclas Fullkrug | West Ham |
However, that said, Arsenal’s record of signing players from the Bundesliga is stellar, it must be said.
Arsenal signings from the Bundesliga | Fee |
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang | £57m |
Granit Xhaka | £35m |
Lukas Podolski | £11m |
Per Mertesacker | £8m |
Bernd Leno | £20m |
Jens Lehmann | £1.5m |
Sead Kolasinac | Free |
Some of these players didn’t light the world up, but there were more hits than misses here.
Lukas Podolski didn’t hit the heights expected of him, but he was still decent for Arsenal.
Meanwhile, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was Arsenal’s best player for a time.
On top of that Per Mertesacker and Granit Xhaka both became club captains in north London, while Jens Lehmann was an Invincible. Meanwhile, Bernd Leno was solid between the sticks too.
Arsenal’s record of signing players from Germany is brilliant, and Sesko may well be worth the risk here.
