One-time Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay has issued a rousing message to Napoli supporters as the side homes in on the Serie A title.
The 28-year-old provided two assists in Gli Azzurri’s 2-2 draw with Genoa, which sees Napoli sit one point above Inter Milan at the summit of the Italian top-flight.
McTominay has impressed since swapping Old Trafford for the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona last summer, immediately endearing himself to the hearts of the Napoli faithful, thanks to the Scotsman’s tireless performances and impressive output.
12 goals and 4 assists in all competitions is a career high for McTominay, and his standout freshman year in Italy will be made all the sweeter if he can help Napoli clinch their second Scudetto in three seasons.
Following the draw with Genoa, Napoli’s No.8 addressed his adoring fans via social media.
Scott McTominay sends message to Napoli fans
Posting to his Instagram story, McTominay wrote: “Attaccando ogni minuto insieme, sudano e sanguinando fino alla fine. E l’unico modo, Forza Ragazzi (Attacking every minute together, sweating and bleeding until the end. It’s the only way, come on boys!)”
The picture shows the 28-year-old fully focused on the task at hand, with his unmatched determination beaming through the screen.
A title battle will be refreshing for McTominay after years of failing to win the league with Manchester United and it has shown, with the Scotland international putting in multiple Man of the Match performances this term.
Can McTominay and Napoli clinch the title?
After waiting 33 years for their third Scudetto, Napoli may have a fourth just two seasons later.
With Antonio Conte at the helm, who has title-winning experience with Juventus and Inter Milan, the side are best positioned to secure the Serie A title but have Inter breathing down their necks.
Napoli’s final two games are kind on paper, as Gli Azzurri travel to Parma before hosting Cagliari on the final day of the season.
Serie A Table 2024/25
1. Napoli | Played: 36 | W: 23 | D: 9 | L: 4 | Points: 78 |
2. Inter Milan | Played: 36 | W: 23 | D: 8 | L: 5 | Points: 77 |
These two sides both sit in the bottom six, whilst Inter face tougher opponents in the shape of Lazio and Como, alongside the small distraction of a Champions League final against PSG to prepare for.
Fate is in Napoli’s hands, and if they do their job, the title will be theirs.
McTominay and Co. will be determined to give their all to ensure the Scudetto doesn’t slip out of their grasp, desperate to immortalise themselves within the Naples folklore.
