Abdoulaye Doucoure says he’d love to stay at Everton but it’s out of his handsCould Everton offer Abdoulaye Doucoure a new contract?

Doucoure has been an ever-present for the Toffees ever since his move from Watford in 2020, making 164 appearances for the club.

However, the 32-year-old’s Everton contract is up in the summer and he’s yet to receive a new deal.

Doucoure has now spoken to Everton fan site Toffee TV, where he was asked whether he’s going to be a Blues player next season.

Abdoulaye Doucoure says he’d love to stay at Everton but it’s out of his hands

Abdoulaye Doucoure was directly asked: “Are you going to be an Everton player next season?”

He responded by saying he would love to stay at Everton, especially now they’re moving into the new stadium.

Doucoure said he loves Everton and admitted he’s waiting for the club to offer him a new contract, but acknowledged that it’s out of his hands.

“Big question. I would love to, to be honest. I’m not joking – I would love to stay. I love the club.

“But obviously, now is no – nothing is in my hands any more.

“I’m just waiting for the club to offer me that contract and we will see with my agent how the solution is going to be.

“But, you know, I would love to stay at the club and play in the new stadium.”

Could Everton offer Abdoulaye Doucoure a new contract?

The Athletic recently reported that Everton are likely to have discussions about renewing Doucoure’s contract.

The outlet further added that Idrissa Gana Gueye and Dominic Calvert-Lewin will also sit down for talks over the coming weeks.

Speaking on Ben Foster’s podcast last week, Doucoure said he disagreed with the notion from some fans that he should agree to a pay cut.

“I see Everton fans saying to lower my wages. I’m amazed, I deserve to have my salary right now,” Doucoure explained.

“To be honest, I won’t readjust my salary to stay at the club. I’ve seen Mo Salah get a pay rise.

“I’m playing every season, I’m important for the club, no, I should have an increase!”

Until Doucoure signs a new contract, he’ll be leaving Everton as things stand.

It has been reported by French outlet Footmercato that Saudi Pro League side Al-Shabab are in talks with Doucoure.
