Everything seems in place for Bayern Munich and Jonathan Tah…

Back in 1983, Stephen King released a novella in graphic novel format call Cycle of the Werewolf, which would later be made into the 80s cult classic flick, Silver Bullet.

The story followed the actions of a werewolf month-to-month in a chronological fashion. Well, we have our own version of this (minus the cool artwork) — Cycle of the Jonathan Tah Transfer.

Check out the developments over the last two days, which make it seem like a deal between Bayern Munich and Tah — a free agent after the season — is just a matter of time.

Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg — May 12th, 12:10PM EDT

Word started to leak that the rumors on Bayern Munich and Tah were legit and also that all contractual details were in place:

⏳ FC Bayern have internally approved all financial details regarding Jonathan #Tah. All of the club’s decision-makers want him as the top replacement for Eric Dier.

Bayern are offering a very attractive long-term contract. All that’s missing now is Tah’s final approval, with a decision expected soon. The club remain very optimistic.

Tah has been a transfer target again for several weeks, as exclusively revealed. He is Bayern’s number one defensive transfer target.

However, Barcelona still hope to sign him despite their FFP issues.

Sport Bild did not go as far as Plettenberg initially, but did detail why things fell apart between Tah and FC Barcelona:

Bayern are now leading the race for Jonathan Tah. Just a few days ago, Barcelona were Tah’s most likely destination. The player’s camp and the Catalans had already agreed on a summer transfer. However, Barça could not guarantee Tah that he would be registered for the upcoming season, which put him off. Barcelona now suspects that Tah is more inclined to move to Munich. Bayern are also aware of that and now want to take advantage of their position as favourites

Max Eberl is working hard to finalize the deal. Negotiations are ongoing. Final details still need to be clarified. But Tah is very open to a move to Munich. Bayern are optimistic.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano (via @iMiaSanMia) — May 12th, 5:27PM EDT

Fabrizio Romano declared that Bayern Munich was leading the race for Tah:

Bayern are ahead of all other clubs in the race for Jonathan Tah and have been in concrete talks for the defender since the end of April.

The Athletic’s Mario Cortegana and Seb Stafford-Bloor (via @iMISanMia) — May 12th, 5:30PM EDT

The Athletic reported that it would be a three-year deal with an option for a fourth year:

Jonathan Tah is in advanced talks to join Bayern as a free agent, with the expectation of concluding a 3-year deal with an option for another year.

Sport Bild’s Christian Falk and Tobi Altschäffl (via @iMiaSanMia) — May 12th, 4:01 EDT

Sport Bild checked back in to report that the move was approved by the supervisory board:

During yesterday’s supervisory board meeting, the board members approved the transfer of Jonathan Tah. Max Eberl was given the green light to offer Tah a 3-year deal until 2028 and bring him to Munich this summer.

German outlet kicker (via @iMiaSanMia) — May 13th, 4:34AM EDT

German outlet kicker delved into more details of where Tah was in the process with Barca before it all fell apart:

Jonathan Tah had a deal agreed with Barcelona, but the move has now definitely fallen through because the Catalans couldn’t guarantee the defender that they would be able to register him for the upcoming season. Everything now indicates that Tah will join FC Bayern on a free transfer, with the German champions stepping up their pursuit of the German international.

Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg — May 13th, 6:04AM EDT

Finally, Plettenberg checked back into report that Bayern Munich is working with Tah’s agent, Pini Zahavi, on the deal. Zahavi, of course, is also representing Leroy Sané is in his contract negotiation talks with the Bavarians:

⏳ FC Bayern are currently working with Pini Zahavi and his team on the final details of the Jonathan #Tah transfer.

The club are still very optimistic that the free transfer will go through. Transfer already internally approved by Bayern, as revealed.

However, negotiations with Tah are being conducted independently of Leroy Sané’s contract extension talks.

So…there you have it. It sure looks like the Bayer Leverkusen center-back will be joining Bayern Munich in just a few weeks. That will make relations between Bayern Munich and Leverkusen even more frosty, eh?
