Jeremie Frimpong is happy to move to Liverpool, having already told Bayer Leverkusen he wants to leave the Bundesliga club.
That’s according to the latest reports as links to the Netherlands international continue to grow stronger by the hour for Arne Slot’s side. Liverpool.com has been aware of the Reds’ interest in Frimpong for some time now, and it seems the club is not wasting any time in finding a replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Talks are already said to have reached an advanced stage, with the player seemingly keen on a move to Anfield if the latest reports are to be believed.
Sky Sports claims that Frimpong would be happy to move to Liverpool if the Reds do follow through with a move for the right-back this summer.
What’s more, the 24-year-old has already told Leverkusen he wants to leave, with a $39 million (€35M) release clause potentially making Liverpool’s task easier.
Frimpong is indeed said to be on the Reds’ shortlist of potential signings this summer, with Slot and Richard Hughes set for what could be a busy transfer window after winning the Premier League title.
Liverpool has had its eye on Frimpong for a long time. In fact, the right-back could have joined the Reds as a nine-year-old, only to join Manchester City instead.

He has caught the eye with his performances with Leverkusen though, particularly as part of the side that won an unbeaten domestic double last season, and Frimpong has dropped previous hints that he would be open to a move to Liverpool.
Asked what he thought about joining Liverpool by Ziggo Sport last year, Frimpong responded: “A great club, with history. That would be great. Who knows what the future will bring?”
The report from Sky Sports also provides an update on Alexander-Arnold’s expected move to Real Madrid. It’s claimed that the Spanish giant still hasn’t made an offer to sign the right-back early, despite approaching Liverpool last week about the possibility.
Los Blancos are keen to have Alexander-Arnold involved at this summer’s Club World Cup in the United States, where he looks as though he will be joined by new manager Xabi Alonso, who will also be leaving Leverkusen.

Despite his contract coming to an end next month, Liverpool could still receive a fee for Alexander-Arnold as a result of Madrid’s eagerness to sign him early.
According to BBC Sport, Real is considering an offer of around $1.1 million in order for Alexander-Arnold to be released early from his deal.
To sweeten the deal, it’s also claimed that Real might be willing to pay the wages Liverpool owes to Alexander-Arnold. Discussions between all of the parties involved are said to be amicable as they look for a solution.
However, at this stage, it seems there is still no offer on the table, meaning Alexander-Arnold could still be on course to leave for nothing.
