Jeremie Frimpong’s links with Liverpool grow stronger by the day.
The Bayer Leverkusen sensation is tipped to be Trent Alexander-Arnold‘s potential replacement if the Reds decide to make a change this summer.
It was reported by Liverpool.com some months ago that Frimpong has caught Liverpool’s eye, especially considering his release clause of about $40 million, which can be triggered. The Netherlands international hasn’t shied away from expressing his admiration for Anfield.
“Liverpool is a great club with history,” he professed to Ziggo Sport in February 2024. “That would be great. Who knows what the future will bring.”
Sky Sports Germany also reports that ‘advanced talks’ are taking place between the Liverpool side and the ex-Manchester City player.
This information coincides with an enigmatic post from Frimpong’s agent, Jeffrey Lemmert, who shared a suggestive message on his Instagram story.
The post simply said: “We working,” accompanied by emojis symbolising time passing and rock climbing.

In Leverkusen, under former Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso’s guidance, Frimpong has rapidly become indispensable. His stats impress with 190 outings in German football, highlighted by a Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal cup double in the unbeaten domestic season of 2023/24.
Die Werkself just played their last home fixture of the current campaign on Sunday, where Frimpong not only scored but also celebrated with his manager, who has declared his upcoming departure at season’s end.
“Lived it. Loved it. Farewell, Coach [love heart emoji],” he penned as a tribute on his personal Instagram page.
