‘Monitoring’: Arsenal now desperately want to sign £37m ace who Gabriel Magalhaes knows very well – journalist

As one of the senior members of Arsenal’s squad, Gabriel Magalhaes will be hoping that Andrea Berta’s arrival coincides with big names coming through the door at the Emirates Stadium.

Berta could spend more than £300 million as it seems like Mikel Arteta’s side are fed up of being nearly-men and next season, they are ready to lift some silverware.

Having spent several years at a club like Atletico Madrid, the Italian sporting director will now be the driving the standards up at Arsenal as well and sign players who can morph into serial winners very soon.

Andrea Berta is working on potential incomings behind the scenes after helping the North Londoners seal an agreement to sign Martin Zubimendi.

One of the deals Berta seems to be keen on completing involves Rodrygo Goes, who Arsenal are interested in signing.

Arsenal hugely keen on signing Real Madrid star Rodrygo Goes

Real Madrid are prepared to sell Rodrygo in the summer and naturally, several clubs across world football are tempted by the prospect of signing one of the finest forwards in Europe.

A prime example is Liverpool, who opened talks to sign Rodrygo — who was not even given a single minute by Carlo Ancelotti in Los Blancos’ latest 4-3 defeat against Barcelona.

It seems like the Spanish giants’ stance is crystal clear and they have never been afraid to make high-profile sales — from Angel Maria in 2014 to Martin Odegaard in 2022.

Regarding Arsenal’s interest, journalist Edu Burgos has revealed that they are one of the most interested clubs in signing Rodrygo.

However, Burgos mentioned that as things stand, they are merely “monitoring” the £37.9 million (Athletic) man and so far, only “informal contacts” have been made.

Gabriel Magalhaes’ record alongside Rodrygo for Brazil

If the two-time Champions League winner opts to make a move to Arsenal, he will have a huge admirer of his in Mikel Merino, who called Rodrygo “complete”.

One man who could help the Real Madrid winger settle into his potentially new surroundings could be his Brazilian teammate Gabriel.

Arsenal target Rodrygo and Gabriel have played 14 games in tandem for Brazil.

In these 14 outings, the pair have won eight games, drawn one and lost five.

However, with Viktor Gyokeres eyeing a move to Arsenal and Zubimendi set to join Arsenal as well, the Brazilian duo could have a better win percentage if they are paired together next season.
