Report: Arsenal now offer £135,000-a-week contract to ‘world class’ player as Mikel Arteta makes call

Arsenal are beginning to make movements in the market, before the summer transfer window has even officially opened.

The Gunners have already signed Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad – with the Spain international expected to cost around £50m, the value of his release clause.

Andrea Berta – who recently replaced Edu Gaspar as Director of Football at the Emirates Stadium – is not resting on his laurels despite that impressive capture, with the Italian now offering Viktor Gyokeres a deal after a decision was made by Mikel Arteta.

Arsenal decide Viktor Gyokeres makes more sense to sign than Alexander Isak with contract now on the table

A Bola in Portugal are now claiming that Arsenal have offered the Sweden international an annual salary of £7m, which roughly equates to £135,000-a-week.

The Portuguese news outlet state that Arteta believes Gyokeres – who Chelsea also like – makes more sense to pursue than Alexander Isak, with Newcastle valuing their talisman at a sum of around £120m, whereas the Sporting CP No.9 can be signed for around €70m (£60m).

Furthermore, the Spaniard believes the Swede will also guarantee goals and does not represent much of a drop-off from Isak, which is a fair assessment seeing as he remarkably boasts 95 goals in 100 games for Sporting CP.

Arsenal have already bid for Gyokeres, so if the striker accepts the £135,000-a-week contract on offer, we expect this deal to start materialising.

Who Andrea Berta is likely to target next

Once Gyokeres – who has been called “world class” – is signed, Berta looks set to pursue a backup goalkeeper to David Raya.

Neto was signed on loan from Bournemouth last summer to temporarily replace Aaron Ramsdale, but with the Brazilian returning to the south coast soon, Arsenal want to sign Joan Garcia from Espanyol as a new deputy.

However, Aston Villa are also keen on the Spanish glovesman amid rumours Emiliano Martinez could head to Saudi Arabia, so Arsenal may need to be quick.
