Huh?
According to a report from Sport Bild journalists Christian Falk, Tobi Altschäffl, Phillip Arens, and Axel Hesse (via @iMiaSanMia), Bayern Munich transfer target and Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz spent his off day visiting…Manchester City.
In addition, Leverkusen officials confronted Hans Wirtz (Florian’s father) about the reports stating that the star attacking midfielder had agreed to a deal with Bayern Munich. Per the reporting, the elder Wirtz denied that any “commitment” was in place:
After it was reported that Bayern and Florian Wirtz have reached an agreement, Leverkusen bosses were very surprised and immediately confronted Hans Wirtz, the player’s father and agent. He assured them during the conversation that he hadn’t made a commitment to anyone and that he also willing to talk to other clubs.
Florian Wirtz and his parents flew to Manchester for a meeting with Pep Guardiola today. They returned to Germany this evening. Hans Wirtz did not want to comment.
FC Bayern remains optimistic about landing Wirtz, either this summer or in 2026. However, Wirtz’s camp seems to be taking City seriously as an alternative. The player used his day off today for the trip to Manchester.
Well…who knows? Stay tuned…
