Angelo Stiller is a man in demand with Liverpool among the clubs who have been linked with an interest in the Bundesliga midfielder.
The Reds have been in fine form this season, with Arne Slot managing to win the Premier League title at the first time of asking.
Liverpool have been linked with Rayan Ait-Nouri, and it seems like midfield is also an area of interest to the Dutch boss, with Stuttgart midfielder Stiller on the Reds’ radar.
The 24-year-old has been in fine form in the Bundesliga this season, so it isn’t all that surprising to find him linked with a team of Liverpool’s quality.
Angelo Stiller to Liverpool has ‘no truth’ to it
As reported by Sky Germany, while there is a release clause in the German’s contract which would allow him to leave the Bundesliga side for a fee worth around £50.4 million, his reported links to Liverpool have “no truth” to them.
Stiller has bounced around a fair few Bundesliga clubs throughout his career, with the midfielder initially starting out at Bayern Munich before eventually making his way to Hoffenheim and now, Stuttgart.
Across all competitions this season, the midfielder has predominantly played as a defensive midfielder and has 13 goal contributions across all competitions.
Competition | Games | Goals | Assists |
Bundesliga | 32 | 1 | 8 |
DFB Cup | 5 | 2 | 1 |
DFL Supercup | 8 | 1 | 0 |
Champions League | 1 | 0 | 0 |
And, with players such as Trent Alexander-Arnold set to exit Anfield in the summer, the fact that the Reds aren’t likely to be in for Stiller is a blow.
Why Angelo Stiller could have been an ideal target for Liverpool
Although Liverpool’s midfield isn’t the first area they should think about upgrading, Stiller would have no doubt been a fine addition to their side.
The 24-year-old has plenty of qualities that would have been more than valuable within the Reds’ system.
His attacking prowess, alongside his ability to drop into the back four if needed, would have been of great use to Slot’s men, with the German likely to take some pressure off the shoulders of Ryan Gravenberch.
Only time will tell whether the Reds will make a U-turn and go for Stiller, but at the moment, that doesn’t feel all that likely.
