Arsenal have fallen short of their goals this season.
Indeed, the Gunners are out of the Champions League, and if results this weekend don’t go their way, they may not even finish second in the Premier League.
This summer transfer window is a big one, and Arsenal need to make sure they get their recruitment right.
Martin Zubimendi is set to join Arsenal this summer, while Nico Williams is also an Arsenal target.
However, the big problem at Arsenal right now is up front, and speaking on the Kelly and Wrighty Show, Tim Sherwood has claimed he knows the ideal striker for Arsenal this summer.

Tim Sherwood says Liam Delap is the answer for Arsenal
Sherwood spoke about what Arsenal need to do this summer.
The pundit says that he wants to see the north London club sign a striker with Premier League experience, claiming that Liam Delap is the answer to a number of the Gunners’ prayers.
Delap is a target for Manchester United, and he’s available for £30m this summer.
“To eliminate the big risk you have someone who has already played in the Premier League. For me there’s one no-brainer out there, but they need a few more. I think Liam Delap is the answer for me. He’s a development player, he’ll come in, they can progress him, he’s scored a lot of goals in a poor Ipswich side this year. Tick that box, whatever it costs, £30m is nothing these days, it’s a cup of tea in terms of signings in the Premier League.”
Arsenal signings from relegated clubs
Delap is an interesting potential signing for Arsenal this summer, and this is an avenue that Arsenal have rarely gone down over the years.
Indeed, while many top clubs have a knack of signing star players from relegated sides – Andy Robertson and Georginio Wijnaldum at Liverpool, James Maddison at Leicester and Harvey Barnes at Newcastle, Arsenal don’t often go down this route.
Arsenal’s list of signings from relegated clubs isn’t deep, but they have plucked at least one gem.
Arsenal signings from relegated clubs | Signed from |
Aaron Ramsdale | Sheffield United |
Rob Holding | Bolton* |
Chris Kiwomya | Ipswich |
Aaron Ramsdale received plenty of praise when he was at Arsenal before being dumped for David Raya, while Chris Kiwomya isn’t the most memorable figure in the club’s history.
This is a decent route for teams to explore, but, for one reason or another, Arsenal have opted against recruiting in this area all that often over the years.
Who knows? Perhaps Arsenal could buck this trend and sign Delap this summer.
