Here we…oh no!

According to a report from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), the race between Bayern Munich and Manchester City for Bayer Leverkusen attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz is “absolutely open.”

With Pep Guardiola pushing hard to have Wirtz fill the shoes of outgoing star Kevin De Bruyne, things could go either way if you believe the most recent reports:

Florian Wirtz’s parents know that Bayer Leverkusen have an excellent relationship with Manchester City and have travelled to Manchester today to meet City officials today (without Pep Guardiola). Both clubs could be ready to negotiate an agreement that includes young players going from City to Leverkusen, such as James McAtee, whom Bayer 04 love. Bayern are absolutely still there, speaking to the player’s side and ready to negotiate with Leverkusen. The race is absolutely open. Wirtz has not decided anything as of tonight.

Things went from looking like a done deal between Bayern Munich and Wirtz to very shaky ground. With Manchester City willing to meet Bayer Leverkusen’s financial demands, this could get dicey for the Bavarians.
