Amorim admitted he was ‘embarrassed’ by United’s Premier League form after Sunday’s 2-0 defeat at home to West Ham, which left the fallen giants with a pitiful 24 points from his 25 games in charge.

That dismal record has prompted suggestions Amorim’s position will come under review following next week’s do-or-die clash with Tottenham in Bilbao.

However, United insiders insist club top brass are planning for the long-haul with the Portuguese at the helm.

Amorim will also be backed in the summer transfer window with a deal to sign Wolves talisman Matheus Cunha advanced.

talkSPORT reported on Monday that confidence is growing in United’s chase for Ipswich striker Liam Delap.

We can also reveal Bournemouth midfielder Antoine Semenyo has held talks with the Red Devils.

Hammers star wants out

West Ham’s Europa Conference League-winning defender Nayef Aguerd has dealt manager Graham Potter a blow by demanding a move away this summer.

Aguerd has had a successful season on loan at Spanish side Real Sociedad, prompting Potter to plan to reintegrate him into his team ahead of the next season.

With the Hammers unable to spend big due to PSR restrictions, Potter sees Aguerd as an opportunity to save cash.

However, the Morocco international has made it clear he has no intention of returning to London Stadium.

West Ham will want to recoup the bulk of the £30million they paid to sign Aguerd from French club Rennes in 2022 in order to sanction a sale.

Two Premier League clubs eye Greenwood

Mason Greenwood could be on course to make a controversial return to English football.

Greenwood was forced to leave Manchester United in 2023 after leaked plans for him to resume his Old Trafford career sparked fury among fans and employees.

This season he has scored 19 goals in 34 league games for Marseille, a record bettered only by Paris Saint-Germain ace Ousmane Dembele.

However, sources close to the 23-year-old say he is unsettled in France, which has put clubs across Europe on alert.

talkSPORT has been told Greenwood’s potential suitors include at least two Premier League clubs.

Earlier this year former England international Greenwood applied to switch allegiances to Jamaica to join their World Cup qualifying campaign.

Coufal wants Premier League stay

Leeds and Everton are among the clubs tracking soon-to-be free agent Vladimir Coufal.

Coufal will leave West Ham at the end of the season after being told his contract is not being extended, as exclusively revealed in this notebook.

Everton boss David Moyes is a big admirer of the Hammers’ Czech cult hero, having signed him for the east London club while he was manager, while newly-promoted Leeds want to add more experience to their squad for their return to the top flight.

Fulham had a number of bids rejected for Coufal on the last day of the winter transfer window and may also revisit their interest.

The 32-year-old wants to stay in England as he seeks his next club, with his young family settled in their life in London and his son starting his own football career in the capital.

Although Coufal Snr is leaving West Ham this summer, his son has just signed for the Hammers’ academy for the 2025/25 season.

Young Nicolas Coufal was pictured with club legend, current sporting director and his dad’s former teammate, Mark Noble, as the family celebrated the good news.

Coufal Snr posted on social media: “We are so proud of you, you worked incredibly hard to reach your goal. Welcome to West Ham my son,” with heart and hammer emojis.
