Liverpool are one of the Premier League clubs said to be in the race for Florian Wirtz this summer.
Liverpool have enjoyed a superb season in which they’ve won the Premier League title and they won’t want to rest on their laurels.
Meanwhile, Florian Wirtz has gone from strength to strength at Bayer Leverkusen and it looks as though this summer will see him make a big career move.
Earlier today, it was reported that Liverpool had made contact with Wirtz’s representatives to discuss a potential summer move.
Indeed, David Ornstein has also corroborated this on The Athletic and on his X account.
However, Sky Sports journalist Kaveh Solhekol has now reported something entirely different about Liverpool and Wirtz.

Kaveh Solhekol says Liverpool are not actively working on Florian Wirtz deal
Solhekol has taken to X to claim that Liverpool are not actually working on a deal to sign Wirtz from Leverkusen as things stand.
In addition, Solhekol reported that Liverpool did not meet Wirtz in England on Tuesday – but he said the Reds are indeed interested in him.
‘As things stand the indications appear to be that he wants to remain in Germany – whether by staying at Bayer Leverkusen or moving to Bayern Munich’, said Solhekol.
‘Liverpool will continue to monitor the situation.’
Who Liverpool would be against in Florian Wirtz pursuit
Liverpool are set to be up against some of the biggest clubs in the world in pursuit of Wirtz.
On Wednesday, TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey confirmed that Real Madrid have joined Manchester City and Bayern Munich in the race for Wirtz.
Bayern had been confident of tying up a deal for Wirtz, but the player is still considering his options – and his final decision will not come down to the size of the contract.
Madrid have had talks with the Germany international’s camp to confirm their ambition to land him.
In addition, City sources have confirmed that they met with the Wirtz camp, including his father Hans, this week.
TBR Football has been told that Wirtz has huge respect for Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola – and the prospect of playing for him is a huge temptation.
