‘Berta is a big fan’: Arsenal have now had private chats about signing £150m attacker – journalist

Arsenal are heading into a new era in the transfer window.

Indeed, Edu resigned earlier this season from his role of Sporting Director, and Andrea Berta has now arrived at the Emirates.

Berta is wasting no time in terms of stamping his mark at Arsenal either.

Martin Zubimendi is set to join Arsenal already, while Andrea Berta is keen on Matheus Cunha too.

Speaking on KS1 TV, Steve Kay has been discussing some of Arsenal’s summer transfer plans, and according to the journalist, Berta is a big fan of AC Milan’s Rafael Leao.

Leao has been valued at £150m, and Arsenal are keen.

Arsenal discuss Rafael Leao signing

Kay gave an update on Arsenal’s pursuit of a new left winger.

Nico Williams has been strongly linked to Arsenal, but according to Kay, Andrea Berta is big on Rafael Leao.

“Yeah, again, Berta is a big fan of Rafael Leao. I know there have been conversations there internally about him. Names like Anthony Gordon and Antoine Semenyo have been mentioned, but I’ve not heard enough to majorly go out with anything, and I would have if I had heard,” Kay said.

Rafael Leao compared to Nico Williams

It would appear Arsenal are looking at signing a new left-sided attacker this summer.

Nico Williams has been strongly linked to Arsenal, while, as Kay says, Andrea Berta really likes Leao.

Comparing these two players statistically certainly makes for interesting reading.

Leao has been outperforming Williams this season, but, at the same time, the price difference here is vast.

Williams will cost just £50m this summer due to his release clause.

Meanwhile, Leao has been touted as a £150m player, and Arsenal probably can’t afford to do that deal as well as bringing a new centre-forward to the club alongside the signing of Zubimendi.

As exciting a signing as Leao would be this summer, it’s hard to see Arsenal having the financial muscle required to get this deal done alongside their other pressing transfer priorities.
