Chelsea were deemed the frontrunners to sign Huijsen in the Premier League, with Liverpool also in pursuit of the Spain international.

A number of other clubs, such as Arsenal, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur, also made contact over Huijsen.

However, things have been accelerating over the past 24 hours with regards to Real Madrid’s pursuit of Huijsen.

Now, Fabrizio Romano has dropped an update involving Real Madrid and Bournemouth which does not bode very well for Huijsen’s Premier League suitors.

Real Madrid strike deal with Bournemouth over Dean Huijsen

Fabrizio Romano has taken to X to claim that the deal is “done club to club”, with Bournemouth accepting Real’s conditions for a move for Dean Huijsen.

Real will pay the £50million clause to Bournemouth by the end of 2026, added the transfer insider.

Romano described it as the “final green light needed” ahead of Real speaking to Huijsen’s camp, with the player keen on a switch to the Bernabeu.

How Premier League clubs could benefit from Dean Huijsen joining Real Madrid

Should Real Madrid get a deal over the line for Huijsen, it will obviously be a big blow to each of his Premier League suitors.

However, one advantage for them is that at least they won’t have to go up against him twice a season in the Premier League and potentially in the domestic cups.

Obviously there’s always the risk of running against Real in the Champions League, but at least Huijsen wouldn’t prove a nuisance at domestic level.

There’s an added benefit for Arsenal too, namely that Real Madrid have been after William Saliba for a long time.

By signing Huijsen, Los Blancos are likely to cool their interest in the Gunners star for the time being.
