The Italian is closing on the end of his maiden season at Chelsea, with the club still in contention to qualify for the Champions League.

Chelsea must win their final two Premier League games against Manchester United and Nottingham Forest to be certain of a top-five finish.

However, some Blues fans aren’t happy with Maresca’s style of play, along with the fact Chelsea have lost 13 league games this season.

TBR Football can now confirm what Chelsea’s owners are in agreement on regarding Maresca and his future at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea chiefs have thrown their support behind head coach Enzo Maresca, TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey can confirm.

Rumours and speculation had emerged in recent weeks that Maresca’s future was in some doubt, and that if he did not secure a Champions League finish then his position would be in major doubt.

However, Chelsea sources have confirmed to TBR Football that the club’s owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali are in agreement that Maresca should not and will not be replaced this summer – no matter where they finish.

“The season started really well, almost too well and at one point there was talk of possible title challenge but that was outside noises,” a source with knowledge of Chelsea confirmed to us.

“It was never going to happen and the club firmly believe they are on the right track with Maresca, he has brought this squad together and that has not been an easy task.”

What Chelsea icon Joe Cole has said about Enzo Maresca’s future

With two Premier League games remaining, a Champions League finish is still achievable for Chelsea despite the loss to Newcastle.

However, Joe Cole is firmly in the ‘Maresca in’ camp, regardless of how the season finishes.

Cole said on The Dressing Room Podcast: “Even if he missed out on Champions League football by a point, I think there’s been progress.

“It would be stupid to think we’ll change it up again. This is a process.

“Chelsea’s project – I think not next season but the season after – Chelsea have to be competing and challenging for all trophies, the Champions League and the Premier League.”
