‘He’s ready’: Fabrizio Romano says £50m Arsenal target has just decided to leave his club

4 Min Read

Arsenal have a considerable amount of funds available to improve Mikel Arteta’s squad this summer.

Despite a brilliant run in the Champions League, Arsenal have ultimately come up short in their quest to win the Premier League once again.

Mikel Arteta’s side kept pace with Liverpool early in the season, but Arne Slot’s team were ultimately too consistent for Arsenal to match.

And whilst bad luck with injuries has definitely played a part, Arsenal simply went into the season without the necessary firepower — they still need to buy a striker.

Arsenal want to sign Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP who has seemingly emerged as Andrea Berta’s top target.

However, the Gunners are also looking for a right-footed winger to complement their forward line too.

Xavi Simons is ready to leave RB Leipzig

In recent months, Arsenal have been offered Xavi Simons, a 22-year-old talent who’s been linked with a move to the Emirates for years.

And recently Arsenal have watched Simons whilst they’ve been checking on Benjamin Sesko at RB Leipzig too.

Simons might not be at the top of Arsenal’s shortlist right now, but perhaps a new update shared by journalist Fabrizio Romano might now hasten the chase for his signature.

Posting on X, Romano has declared that Simons is ready to leave Leipzig this summer.

The journalist claimed that the German side are aware of Simons’ wishes and there are Premier League sides paying attention to the situation.

Romano said: “Xavi Simons’ decision has been made: he’s ready to leave RB Leipzig this summer.

“Plan confirmed as reported in the recent months, he’s ready for new chapter with top Premier League clubs and Bayern all attentive to his situation.

“RB Leipzig, aware of the player’s plan.”

Mikel Arteta knows all about Xavi Simons’ talent

Simons isn’t a natural winger — he’s best playing as number 10, but the Dutchman would definitely improve Arteta’s frontline.

Judging by reports in Germany, Simons hasn’t enjoyed the strongest end to his season at Leipzig, but perhaps that simply points to the fact that he is ready for something new.

Simons is available for £50m this summer and that should be a deal that’s well within Arsenal’s reach.

Simons ‘destroyed’ Arsenal in the Champions League a few seasons ago — the club will be well aware of his rich talent and potential.

And perhaps the 22-year-old will emerge as the perfect versatile difference-maker to help get the best out of whichever striker Arsenal sign this summer.
