There might still be two games left in the season, but Liverpool doesn’t look like it’s wasting any time ahead of the summer transfer window opening.
We know Trent Alexander-Arnold will be departing, and a move to Real Madrid might not be too far away now, but it seems the Reds may already have a replacement lined up. Speculation is growing over Jeremie Frimpong, who already looks to have given the green light to a move to Anfield.
If the latest reports are to be believed, his arrival could just be a matter of time, and it may just be the first of many this summer as Arne Slot and Richard Hughes get down to work.
Here is the Liverpool.com verdict on the transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds today.
Jeremie Frimpong (Bayer Leverkusen)
Jeremie Frimpong will sign a five-year contract at Liverpool this summer, with a deal to move to Anfield on the verge of being completed, according to German outlet Kicker.
Links with the Bayer Leverkusen star continue to grow, with reports on Tuesday suggesting that Frimpong is happy to join the Reds, and has already told his current club he wants to leave.
And Kicker claims that talks are already near a conclusion, which could open the door for Frimpong to join Liverpool as early as June 1, when the first of two Premier League transfer windows opens ahead of the Club World Cup.
Liverpool.com says: Well, that escalated quickly! In just over 24 hours, we seem to have gone from Liverpool being interested in Frimpong to a deal being almost complete!
Assuming a deal goes through, it will be interesting to see how Arne Slot uses him at Anfield. You would hope that he wouldn’t stand in the way of Conor Bradley’s development, but having two strong right-backs with different skillsets will be a big boost to the Reds.
Rodrygo (Real Madrid)
Liverpool has already had contact with the agents of Rodrygo, with an exit from Real Madrid not being ruled out by the Spanish giant, according to reports in France.
Sports Zone claims that the Brazilian is no longer considered “untransferable” in the minds of Bernabeu chiefs.
Already, talks are said to have occurred with Liverpool, Manchester City, and Arsenal, while discussions are also taking place with Paris Saint-Germain.
Liverpool.com says: All doesn’t seem well at the Bernabeu at the moment, and it will be interesting to see whether Rodrygo does indeed decide he wants out. If he does, perhaps Liverpool could use a certain right-back’s move to the Spanish capital to get itself a favorable deal for the Brazilian…
