Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo has held talks with Manchester United over a summer move to Old Trafford, talkSPORT understands.

It comes seven years after they first eyed a move for the 25-year-old winger.

Semenyo has shone this season with 11 goals and seven assists, with his form helping the Cherries already break a club record for their highest-ever points tally in the top flight.

With Amorim looking to strengthen in all areas of the pitch this summer, United have already held talks with the English-born Ghana international.

But they have stiff competition for his signature with Semenyo on Newcastle’s radar, while Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes is also a fan.

Given his success and the calibre of clubs interested, it is believed Bournemouth value the forward at around £70million.

The Red Devils previously considered a move for Semenyo all the way back in December 2018.

Then aged 18, the wideman had been on loan in League Two with Newport County from Bristol City.

United scouts even went to watch the teenager in action in the fourth tier.

Robins’ head of loans at the time, Brian Tinnion, told the Express: “I was sat with a Man United scout at Newport the other week, to be honest.

“And they really like him. People will like him because he’s 18 years of age.”

However, a move to Old Trafford never materialised for Semenyo even with the transfer window opening a month later.

Now 25, the winger has scored 11 goals for the Cherries this season[/caption]

He instead returned to Ashton Gate after half a season in South Wales.

During his time at Newport, Semenyo scored six goals in 32 appearances for the club.

The forward later had another spell out on loan at Sunderland before breaking into the City first-team.

Bournemouth later swooped for him, though, completing an £8.5million deal in January 2023.

Semenyo would go on to be part of the Cherries side which secured Premier League safety on their top-flight return.

He could now help the club qualify for Europe for the first time in their history.

With two matches remaining, Andoni Iraola’s side sit 10th in the table, two points and two places below Brentford.

An eighth place finish will earn a Conference League berth if Manchester City win Saturday’s FA Cup final.
