Nicolo Savona is no longer just a promise. His name is starting to make the headlines in the European sporting press, and not by chance. At the age of 22, the Juventus right-back has attracted the attention of big English clubs. The summer transfer window is approaching, and the defensive priorities of some Premier League giants are taking shape. Liverpool, Manchester City and West Ham United are all keeping a close eye on the Aosta-born player. As rumours swirl, squad decisions and expiring contracts force these teams to look to Italy. And among so many options, the young Savona stands out without having to make noise.

Manchester City Are Competing For The Services Of Nicolo Savana

Manchester City, according to several sources like Italian outlet Tutto Juve, show a concrete interest in Nicolo Savona. The departure of Kyle Walker is imminent, and Rico Lewis, despite his potential, does not yet offer the necessary guarantee to take on a permanent role. In this context, Savona represents a realistic option, young and already proven in a demanding league.

This season, the Italian has played more than 2,000 minutes for Juventus in 36 games, scoring two goals and providing one assist. What is striking is not only his statistics, but his maturity on the pitch. Guardiola values tactically intelligent profiles, with good defensive reading and the ability to contribute in the build-up from the back. Savona fits the bill, and it seems no coincidence that City have moved ahead in the talks.

Nor is it surprising that other clubs, such as Liverpool or even Bayer Leverkusen, are aware of the situation. But City’s structure, their sporting projection and their immediate need could be decisive. In a team that dominates possession and demands precision from the flanks, a wing-back with the tactical training offered by the Italian school is attractive. While no deal has been finalised, interest is strong.

How will this move turn out for Pep Guardiola’s side?

From a broader perspective, if the signing goes through, the impact could be felt at several layers of the club. Walker’s transition will not be simple. His experience and leadership have been an essential part of the team’s defensive balance in recent years. That’s why City can’t just fill the gap; they must think outside the box.

Bringing in Savona would mean investing in a young, mouldable profile, but also in a player who needs time to adapt. The Premier League is more physical, more direct, and not everyone can adjust immediately. Guardiola will have to decide whether to incorporate him from day one as the main player or if he will alternate him in a progressive process.

In any case, reinforcing that lane is not optional. With the Champions League as a permanent objective, the squad need depth and real competitiveness. Betting on Savona is a risk, yes, but it can also mean getting ahead of the rest and securing talent in the midst of an upward curve. If City want to maintain their hegemony, they must not hesitate. The summer window will be key.
