Arsenal have a big summer ahead of them, and their main priority has to be to sign a striker.

Indeed, the Gunners will sign a new striker this summer, and that will have a knock-on effect for the rest of the squad.

Kai Havertz is out injured at the moment, but the £65m man remains a key player for Arsenal and he isn’t going to be immediately dropped if a new striker is signed.

Speaking on KS1 TV, Steve Kay has been discussing Arsenal’s summer transfer plans, and according to the journalist, Ollie Watkins could be a striker that Arsenal bring in.

Kay says that Arsenal are keen on Watkins, and his arrival could lead to a position change for Havertz.

Kay shared what he knows about Watkins and his links to Arsenal.

The journalist says Watkins could be brought in as the new second-choice striker at Arsenal, while Kai Havertz could drop deeper into midfield.

Watkins is an ‘amazing’ forward who would certainly improve the Gunners’ frontline.

“I think Ollie Watkins is someone who would be brought in anyway. That’s the understanding I’m getting. They’re looking at him as a number two and Gabriel Jesus isn’t that,” Kay said.

“From my understanding as well, Havertz is going to be dropping into a deeper role to play all over the place, mixed players in different positions with versatility.”

Havertz could be set to return to a deeper role at Arsenal, and that is slightly concerning in some way.

Indeed, let’s not forget, Havertz started out at Arsenal playing in midfield, and, to be honest, he wasn’t great in that role.

Havertz was heavily criticised when he played in midfield, and the stats show that he isn’t nearly as effective in that role.

Arsenal do need to find a way to accommodate Havertz into this new-look attack, but perhaps dropping him back into a midfield role isn’t their best bet.

Who knows? Perhaps Mikel Arteta should change his system to incorporate two strikers going forwards.
