With Liverpool already crowned as the Premier League champion for this season, anticipation is building for next term.
This includes a brand-new range of kits for the Reds, set to be produced by returning partner Adidas. The iconic brand was confirmed to be making a third comeback as Liverpool’s kit manufacturer, having previously held the role between 1985 and 1996, and then again from 2006 to 2012.
The multi-year deal, believed to span five years, will see the club part ways with Nike, who has been its kit supplier since 2020. Not only did news of the renewed partnership with Adidas leak, but so too did designs and details about key features of Liverpool’s forthcoming kits.
Home design
Footy Headlines reports that the next Liverpool home kit will bear a striking resemblance to the design sported at the beginning of Adidas’ last stint with the club, between 2006 and 2008.
The new kit is said to feature a different shade of red, more of a strawberry hue, with white trim around the sides and back of the collar and sleeves, along with the iconic three stripes across the shoulders.
The detail that aligns it closely with the 2006/08 kit is the white stripes running down each side panel to the base of the shirt, although it doesn’t share the same full collar as the previous design.
The kit features the current Liver Bird crest, which has adorned shirts since 2012, along with a modern, simplified version of the Adidas logo. Standard Chartered continues as the front-of-shirt sponsor, with all these details presented in white.
Liverpool is set to join the ranks of adidas’ so-called “elite clubs,” meaning both authentic versions of the kits, as worn in matches, and replica versions will be produced.
In line with Liverpool tradition, it’s expected that the shorts and socks will match the base strawberry red of the shirt, incorporating the Adidas three stripes in some way. The official switch to the German manufacturer won’t be confirmed until after July 1.
Away design
Footy Headlines’ leaked away kit design seems to be a mirror image of the home shirt in many respects, featuring the same design elements for the collar, sleeves, three stripes, and even the hems in the material. Naturally, the primary difference is the white color, complemented by red detailing for contrast.
The modern, simplified Adidas logo remains, this time in red, while Standard Chartered’s logo is black. A notable variation is that the Liver Bird crest is reportedly enclosed within a red shield for this design.
Alternate design
Liverpool’s third kit is rumored to adopt the sea green colour that became iconic in celebrated adidas kits of the 1990s, and has been used intermittently ever since. The collar features black and white detailing, mirrored on the sleeve ends, with the Adidas three stripes running along the shoulders.
The front features distinctive elements. All details are in white, beginning with the familiar Standard Chartered logo. This time, Adidas’ emblem is the classic trefoil one used on third kits this season by clubs they sponsor.
In a significant shift, the club’s crest on the third kit is reportedly going to be the one used between 1987 and 1992, according to designs from Footy Headlines.
Goalkeeper designs
Various designs for goalkeeper shirts have surfaced online. Footy Headlines, reporting on these, have suggested a light green shade for one that matches the home kit in pattern, complete with black stripes and detailing.
The other design mirrors the style of the third kit, but it’s a plain black shirt with a white collar, stripes, and detailing on the front. This includes the 1987-92 club crest as well.
