Tottenham could end the season with a trophy after reaching the UEFA Europa League final, but are still set to miss out on a target to north London rivals Arsenal.

Mikel Arteta and Andrea Berta – Director of Football at Arsenal – are plotting some significant moves in the market after another season of coming close to silverware, as the Gunners aim to bridge the gap on Liverpool.

Martin Zubimendi has already been signed to bolster the central midfield department, while Arsenal have bid for Viktor Gyokeres after he incredibly scored 95 goals in 100 games for Sporting CP.

Furthermore, a new goalkeeper could soon arrive in Joan Garcia after an update from AS (page 12).

Joan Garcia waiting for Arsenal

The Spanish news outlet have now written that the Espanyol No.1 only wants to join Arsenal, despite several top clubs showing an interest in his services.

AS mention that Tottenham are keen, while Bournemouth, Manchester United, Manchester City, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen are also admirers of the goalkeeper, who many at Espanyol expect to reach the very top.

However, they all look set to lose out to Arsenal, who have already agreed personal terms with Garcia as Arteta looks to find a new backup for David Raya, once Neto returns to Bournemouth this summer.

AS state that the Espanyol glovesman has a €25m (£20m) release clause in his contract, which actually rises to €30m (£25m) in the final 15 days of the transfer window, so Arsenal would be minded to complete this deal as soon as possible.

Garcia has kept seven clean sheets across 35 appearances in La Liga this season.

Aston Villa will have to look elsewhere too

There are murmurs that Emiliano Martinez could move to Saudi Arabia this summer, with Aston Villa keen on Garcia as a replacement for the Argentina international – according to Cadena SER.

However, as all of the aforementioned clubs will also have to do, the Villans would be wise to start looking for alternatives, as it seems the 24-year-old has his heart set on a move to Arsenal.
