The South Korean looks to be a serious ‘candidate for sale’ in the summer transfer window.
Bayern Munich could be stepping up efforts to ship defender Kim Min-jae on in the summer transfer window. From a report in Sport Bild, as captured by @iMiaSanMia:
Within the club, they had expected more from Kim Min-jae when they signed him from Napoli two years ago. The Korean defender is a candidate for sale this summer. Kim himself is not averse to a departure should he get attractive offers. He has taken to heart the criticism of his performances in Munich [@altobelli13, @cfbayern]
BFW Analysis
Kim has definitely had a better Year One than Year Two in Bavaria and that is not the way you want the trend arrow to be pointing.
However, the Korean international has been run into the ground this season and playing through pain. Surely that counts for something? Perhaps not in this ice cold business. Bayern’s move for Bayer Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah on a free probably sets up a Kim departure — as the 28-year-old has a similar age profile and veteran status and is one of the few players that can probably command a respectable transfer fee without difficulty if he can be convinced to move on. The Bavarians could then target a younger center-back or right-back, depending on what they plan to do with Josip Stanišić.
Kim has always played with heart, however, and this writer at least cannot forget that. If this is it for him in Munich, he’ll be missed.
