TBR Football understands that Florian Wirtz has not yet committed to Bayern Munich and Manchester City remain firmly in contention to sign him.
It can also be confirmed that Real Madrid have joined Manchester City and Bayern in the battle to land the Bayer Leverkusen midfield sensation.
Bayern had been confident of tying up a deal for Wirtz, even discussing the finances of a deal, but TBR Football is told that Wirtz’s final decision will not come down to the size of the contract.
The 22-year-old is considering his options, indeed, Leverkusen even hold out some hope he could remain at the club for at least another 12 months. But the battle to land Wirtz is very much still on.
Real Madrid enter Florian Wirtz race
Real Madrid are ready to back their new head coach, Xabi Alonso, who has already approved some of their summer targets, which include Florian Wirtz and Dean Huijsen.
Whilst Madrid are now positioning themselves to land Huijsen, as TBR Football previously confirmed, Madrid have had talks with Wirtz’s camp to confirm their ambition to land him.
Wirtz is open to talking to Madrid, who have confirmed they are ready to make room in the squad for him, which could include the exit of Rodrygo.
Pep Guardiola factor is huge temptation for Florian Wirtz
However, Bayern, Leverkusen and Madrid could all be left disappointed as Hugo Viana and Pep Guardiola are working hard on persuading him to lead the new City era at the Etihad and are trying to sell Wirtz on the prospect of replacing Kevin De Bruyne.
TBR Football has also been told that Wirtz has huge respect for Guardiola and playing for him is a huge temptation. City sources have confirmed that they met with the Wirtz camp, including his father Hans, this week.
