Chelsea would back themselves to keep a majority of their key players in the summer, considering they are well-placed to qualify for the Champions League and win the Europa Conference League.
Enzo Maresca’s future at Chelsea is safe and the Italian tactician would be hoping that the Blues’ dressing room believes in him to make their project a success in the long haul.
The West Londoners have several exciting young players breaking through who could play a key role in Maresca’s long-term project, with Tyrique George impressing for Chelsea this season.
Andrey Santos has also looked like the real deal, albeit on loan at Strasbourg.
Santos has been one of Ligue 1’s best midfielders this season, scoring nine goals in the French top-flight— which shows how much of an impact he has had during his loan spell.
Bayern Munich want to sign Andrey Santos but he’s “not for sale”
Liam Rosenior’s side have a chance of qualifying for the Champions League and a key reason why that is the case is due to the Brazilian’s importance to Chelsea’s sister club.
Arsenal have shown interest in signing Santos as it is becoming difficult for top European clubs to ignore how special a talent Enzo Maresca has at his disposal.
Journalist Ben Jacobs has told The London Is Blue – Chelsea FC podcast that even Bayern Munich wish to sign Santos but the English giants have decided not to sell him: “Yeah, I think Andrey Santos is not for sale. And the next step for him will be about development. It’s absolutely true that Bayern like Santos.”
“And it’s also correct that after the season the players had, he’s thinking, okay, where’s my game time and my development? But Chelsea are not blind. They can see him putting in world-class performances at Strasbourg week in, week out.”
“And therefore, he’s going to come back. He’s going to be part of the [FIFA Club] World Cup squad. He’s going to be competing.”
Enzo Maresca’s stance on Santos’ future at Chelsea
Santos, aged 21 is one of Europe’s most prodigious up-and-coming midfielders and it comes as no surprise that Bayern wish to prise him away from Chelsea.
Bayern have signed Tom Bischof and they also have wonderkids such as Jamal Musiala and Aleksandar Pavlovic on their books — as it seems like their strategy is to sign the best midfield prospects around Europe.
Luckily for Chelsea fans, Enzo Maresca intends to hand Santos first-team football next season.
The Blues are impressed with how the youngster has developed over at Strasbourg.
As a result, Chelsea have no intention of letting Santos leave, despite Bayern’s interest.
