Wil Bayern Munich be able to win this summer’s big tourney?
Bayern Munich only has one game remaining on its Bundesliga schedule and once this weekend is over, the squad will shift its focus to this summer’s Club World Cup.
While the extra load might not be something that all players will enjoy, Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer is eager to take his game to North America in hopes of coming away with a championship.
“It’s the first Club World Cup in this format. We’ll travel there as a team to become world champions. That’s our big goal,” Neuer told BR24 (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
Bayern Munich’s roster should be in a little bit of flux heading into the competition. Outgoing veteran Thomas Müller is going to stay on for the Club World Cup and Bayern Munich is seeking to keep Eric Dier for the tournament as well.
Otherwise, Leroy Sané’s contract situation is up in the air at the moment as his camp has submitted a counterproposal to Bayern Munich. It remains to be seen what happens with that and also if Bayern Munich will be successful in landing Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz (or any other key players for that matter).
Clearly, the Bavarians are not just viewing the Club World Cup as a tune-up for next season.
