Liverpool and manager Arne Slot have had an enjoyable week, but now they will need to get back into game mode.

The Reds return to Premier League action against Brighton at the Amex Stadium on Monday night, live on talkSPORT.

They were crowned top-flight champions over two weeks ago, but ahead of this clash, they’ve still been celebrating.

Slot has been partying in Ibiza while his players have been in Dubai, combining the fun with a farewell trip for Trent Alexander-Arnold.

With there being two fixtures left for Liverpool, their decision to travel abroad could be questioned, but it benefits Brighton.

The Seagulls are playing the Reds at the perfect time, as there is a high chance of a lack of fitness within their opponent’s squad.

Should Fabian Hurzeler‘s side win, they’ll put themselves in with a great chance of qualifying for Europe on the final day.

Brighton vs Liverpool: History beckons

Mohamed Salah‘s history-making year could be getting better.

He’s on the brink of another incredible record heading into the penultimate Premier League game of the campaign.

The Egyptian has scored 16 away goals in the top-flight, which is the joint-most in a single season in the competition’s history.

Salah is currently level with Harry Kane and Kevin Phillips.

If he finds the net against Brighton, on what will be his 300th game in the Premier League, he’ll have the outright most ever.

  • Having lost four of their first five Premier League home games against Liverpool (D1), Brighton are now unbeaten in their last two against the Reds at the Amex Stadium in the competition.
  • Liverpool have won their last two Premier League games against Brighton, having won just one of their previous seven against the Seagulls beforehand (D4 L2).
  • Brighton lost 2-0 to Manchester United in their final home league game of 2023-24, but haven’t done so in consecutive campaigns since a run of three between 2005-06 and 2007-08.

Brighton vs Liverpool: Team news

Brighton will remain without Georginio Rutter, James Milner, Solly March and Ferdi Kadioglu, who are all injured.

But Joao Pedro will be back after serving a suspension.

As for Liverpool, only Joe Gomez is carrying a knock at the moment.

It means Slot has the majority of his first-team squad available to pick from, with Alexis Mac Allister likely to return.

Mac Allister was on the bench last time out with Diogo Jota who could come back in, along with Alexander-Arnold.

  • A goal in this match will see Liverpool become only the ninth side to score in 100% of their away games in an English top-flight season (something the Reds have never achieved in any league season before), and only the fourth to do so in a league with at least 20 teams in it, after both Arsenal and Manchester United in 2001-02 (19 games), and Arsenal in 1930-31 (21 games).
  • Liverpool haven’t lost their final away league game in any of the last six campaigns (W4 D2) since a 1-0 loss to Chelsea in 2017-18. Their last two have seen 14 goals scored in total – a 4-4 draw with Southampton in 2022-23 and a 3-3 stalemate with Aston Villa last season.

Brighton vs Liverpool: What has been said?

Dominik Szoboszlai has been speaking about teammate Salah’s spectacular season for Liverpool.

Szoboszlai said: “Unbelievable. It feels like every week he has been breaking another record.

“As I think [Cristiano] Ronaldo said once, he doesn’t follow the records, the records follow him.

“I think Mo could say the same now, because every week he sets another record.

“There are a lot of players in our team who played a huge role in this season but yes, of course, Mo was one of them.”

  • Brighton have lost just one of their last seven Premier League home games (W4 D2), going down 3-0 against Aston Villa in April.
  • Liverpool have lost two of their last three Premier League away games (W1), as many as they had in their previous 30 (W17 D11). They lost 3-1 at Chelsea last time out, last losing consecutively on the road in the league in March/April 2023.
  • Brighton’s Danny Welbeck – enjoying his best ever goalscoring season in the Premier League with 10 – has been involved in four goals in his last five Premier League appearances against Liverpool (2 goals, 2 assists).
