Manchester United have reportedly been informed that they will have to come up with an offer of at least £20m if they wish to sign Fiorentina defender Pietro Comuzzo during this summer’s transfer window.
The 20-year-old has been an ever-present for his Italian side during the 2024-25 campaign, making 42 appearances in all competitions, including 31 outings in the top flight of Italian football.
A number of clubs, including Man United, are said to be tracking the centre-back, who has signed a new contract with Fiorentina until the end of the 2028-29 campaign, with the option of a further 12 months.
According to Football Insider, his Serie A team will not listen to offers of under £20m for the defender, who is also believed to be attracting interest from the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Newcastle United.
The report claims that the growing interest in Comuzzo may force Man United to move for the youngster sooner than initially planned.
Fiorentina ‘want £20m’ for Man United-linked Comuzzo
Man United head coach Ruben Amorim has admitted that the club may be forced to sign a new centre-back this summer due to concerns surrounding Leny Yoro‘s fitness, with the Frenchman suffering another foot injury.
“Leny was the same as Matta [Matthijs de Ligt], [when he got injured at Brentford], I was thinking about the next year, the squad, if we need another guy. If he’s a long injury. That is my concern,” Amorim told reporters ahead of Friday’s clash with Chelsea.
“It’s not about just the final, of course I want every player fit. Leny Yoro was in his foot, he had that problem [in pre-season], so I was so concerned about the next season, the next squad, the way we build up the squad. That was my biggest concern. The rest? We’ll be ready for the final, no matter what.”
Would Comuzzo be a good signing for Man United?
Comuzzo would certainly fit the brief for Man United in terms of the type of signings that the club are now targeting, and the fact that he is already such a key player at his age for a team of Fiorentina’s ilk is a huge positive.
The Italian made six appearances for Fiorentina last season, but his true breakthrough into the senior side has occurred this term.
Ayden Heaven has shown hugely positive signs since his arrival from Arsenal, and with Victor Lindelof set to move on this summer, there could be space for another talented young centre-back to join.
If the price is indeed £20m, then Man United must not pass up the chance to bring in Comuzzo, as they could be made to seriously regret it, with other Premier League clubs circling the youngster.
