Fans have been reacting on social media after the Premier League Player of the Season nominees were revealed.
With the Premier League season edging closer to the finish line, it is time for the individual awards to be handed out.
On Thursday morning, the eight nominees for Premier League Player of the Season were announced.
Perhaps as expected, freshly-crowned champions Liverpool had the most nominations, with Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Ryan Gravenberch all in the running.
The Reds trio were joined by Newcastle United star Alexander Isak, Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice and Nottingham Forest duo Morgan Gibbs-White and Chris Wood.
Liverpool man Salah will be the favourite to pick up the award after scoring 28 goals and assisting 18 in the top flight this season.
Reacting on social media, some fans questioned the decision to overlook Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes.
One fan said: “Where’s Bruno Fernandes?”
Another tweeted: “Where’s Bruno Fernandes? The best midfielder.”
A third fan added: “No Bruno Fernandes shameful.”
Someone else wrote: “Bruno deserved a shot too. Without him United would have been relegated now.”
A fifth commented: “Bruno is better than 7 of them.”
Another fan said: “What criteria is used for the selection we are missing the mighty Bruno whyyy??????”
Despite a poor season for United, Fernandes has played a key role under both Erik ten Hag and Ruben Amorim.
In the Premier League this season, Fernandes has managed eight goals and 10 assists in 34 matches.
Overall, the Portuguese star has 19 goals and 19 assists in 54 appearances across all competitions.
Fernandes will be hoping to lead United to glory next week when they take on Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final, which will be held at the San Mames in Bilbao, Spain.
Apart from the Player of the Season, the nominees for Manager of the Season were also revealed.
The nominees are – Arne Slot (Liverpool), Thomas Frank (Brentford), Eddie Howe (Newcastle United), Nuno Espirito Santo (Nottingham Forest) and Vitor Pereira (Wolverhampton Wanderers).
