Arsenal have fallen short in both the Premier League and the Champions League this season, and they have a lot of work to do this summer.
Indeed, the Gunners need to revamp their squad slightly if they want to reach that next level.
There are a few potential exciting incomings at Arsenal. Martin Zubimendi is set to join the Gunners, while Nico Williams has been linked to Arsenal too.
Meanwhile, there could be some outgoings on the horizon too.
Oleksandr Zinchenko has been linked with a move away from Arsenal, while Kieran Tierney is set to leave Arsenal this summer.
Speaking on ESPN, James Olley has claimed that there’s one player who definitely won’t be leaving Arsenal this summer though, noting that Arsenal won’t be selling William Saliba under any circumstances.
Arsenal won’t sell William Saliba under any circumstances
Olley spoke about William Saliba’s situation at Arsenal.
Saliba has been linked to Real Madrid, but according to Olley, Saliba will not be leaving the Emirates under any circumstances this summer.
“They won’t sell him. I mean, I don’t think they would sell him under any circumstances this summer unless he decides to push really hard for a move, go on strike and hand in a transfer request and all that stuff. But I don’t see that happening as we sit here now. I think it’s one they’ll look to tie down as early as possible because of the message it sends to the rest of the squad,” Olley said.
William Saliba’s contract situation analysed
Arsenal won’t be selling Saliba under any circumstances this summer, but, in some ways, the Gunners are playing a dangerous game here.
Indeed, Saliba is the best defender in the world according to some, and, concerningly, he’s heading into the final two years of his contract at Arsenal.
At that point, you need to make a decision, a player’s value will only decrease from this point, and if they don’t sign a new deal, you risk losing them for free.
Arsenal want Saliba to sign a new deal, but, as of yet, there’s been no concrete movement on that front.
