£150m player is the reason Arsenal haven’t gone all in on Viktor Gyokeres ahead of this summer – journalist

Arsenal’s search for a new striker is about to heat up as we head into this summer transfer window.

Arsenal will sign a new striker this summer, and there are a number of options the Gunners are considering.

Ollie Watkins has been linked to Arsenal, while Benjamin Sesko is on Arsenal’s radar.

Arsenal are also very keen on Viktor Gyokeres, but according to Ben Jacobs, speaking on Curtis Shaw TV, Arsenal haven’t gone all in on Gyokeres yet due to the fact they’re waiting to see if another avenue opens up.

Indeed, according to Jacobs, Arsenal’s eggs aren’t all in the Gyokeres basket just yet as they still want to gauge whether or not Alexander Isak will become available this summer.

Arsenal waiting for Alexander Isak update

Jacobs shared what he knows about Arsenal and their search for a new striker.

According to the journalist, Arsenal are not putting all of their eggs in the Gyokeres basket right now as they’re waiting until the end of the season to see if Alexander Isak will be available from Newcastle.

“Then you have the dream target in Alexander Isak. I think why we might not see all the eggs in the Gyokeres basket today or tomorrow is just because at the end of the season it will be clearer if Alexander Isak is genuinely available for a number or whether if Newcastle have got Champions League football he comes completely off the table,” Jacobs said.

How much will Alexander Isak cost?

Arsenal would love to sign Alexander Isak this summer, but if they are to go for that deal, it will be hugely expensive.

Indeed, according to Jacobs, Isak will cost £150m this summer, which would represent a record fee for Arsenal.

“We hear this number out there that £150m as the price Newcastle are willing to sell for. While sources don’t entirely deny that figure, it would comfortably be a British transfer record, it’s not a number they’re offering to suitors.

“Suitors are waiting in order to be respectful to Newcastle. You need to have a great relationship with Newcastle, and approaching them as they try to qualify for Champions League is completely the wrong timing,” Jacobs said.

“If this £150m number is genuine, it comes from sources and insiders in conversations that I’ve had, but it’s stressed by the same sources that they’re not giving that number to the market.”

£150m is a lot of money, but Isak is arguably the best striker in the world right now, so, in a lot of ways, it would be money well spent by the Gunners.
