Barcelona are reportedly among five clubs interested in signing Manchester United forward Alejandro Garnacho during this summer’s transfer window, with the Red Devils facing a difficult decision when it comes to the 20-year-old.

Garnacho has scored 11 goals and registered 10 assists in 56 appearances for Man United this season, but there is currently huge uncertainty when it comes to his long-term future at Old Trafford.

Napoli are believed to have failed with at least one offer for Garnacho in January, while Chelsea are also believed to have been in touch with Man United in the winter transfer window to register their interest.

Any sale of Garnacho this summer would count as pure profit under the Premier League’s rules surrounding profit and sustainability, and there remain question marks surrounding his suitability for a Ruben Amorim team.

The forward’s best work for the Red Devils comes in wide areas, but he is currently being asked to operate as a narrow number 10, and there will be specialist players signed in that area of the field this summer.

Barcelona ‘considering summer move’ for Garnacho

According to CaughtOffside, Barcelona are keen on signing Garnacho during this summer’s transfer window, while there is also interest from Napoli, Atletico Madrid, Juventus and Bayer Leverkusen.

Chelsea, though, are thought to have cooled their interest in the Argentina international, with the Blues instead believed to be focused on a deal for Borussia Dortmund‘s Jamie Gittens.

Garnacho is with the Man United squad that has travelled down to Chelsea for Friday’s Premier League clash, but he may start on the bench, with Amorim focusing on next week’s Europa League final.

It would be a shock if Garnacho was not in the XI for the final of the European competition against Tottenham Hotspur, and he will be bidding to help the Red Devils land major silverware at the end of a tough season.

Should Man United sell Garnacho this summer?

Garnacho has come up with 21 goal contributions this season, and he has now managed 26 goals and 22 assists in 142 appearances for Man United, which are excellent numbers for a 20-year-old.

It is easy to forget how young he is due to the amount of matches that he has played since breaking into the first team, and he has every right to be inconsistent at this stage of his career.

Man United need to move a number of their current squad on in order to be successful again, but Garnacho is one of those who should be kept, unless an astronomical offer arrives for his services.

The Red Devils could sign two specialists for the number 10 positions in Amorim’s side this summer, but there simply has to be a role moving forward for Garnacho, as the club could be seriously made to regret his sale.
