Exclusive: ‘Brilliant’ Man United man is wanted by Leverkusen and Leipzig, while Saudi Pro League would ‘love’ to get him

3 Min Read

TBR Football can exclusively reveal that a number of clubs are keeping tabs on Ruben Amorim’s situation at Manchester United.

The 40-year-old arrived at Manchester United late last year, succeeding Erik Ten Hag.

However, he came into a club with a squad barely fit for purpose, especially for his system with three at the back.

Amorim has stuck by his beliefs, but Man United have endured one of their worst league campaigns in decades.

The Red Devils are set for their worst Premier League finish ever and their worst top-flight position since the 1970s.

Amorim himself has cryptically questioned his own future – although Man United sources insisted this was not a serious suggestion.

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim eyed by Bayer Leverkusen, RB Leipzig and Saudi Pro League

Whether serious or not, TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey can confirm that Ruben Amorim is still hugely respected on the continent.

Should the 40-year-old Portuguese coach be available, there would be a long list of suitors eager to make him their own.

TBR Football can reveal that German sides Bayer Leverkusen and RB Leipzig are among those who are actively watching the United situation.

Both Bundesliga clubs are in the market for new head coaches this summer and the ‘brilliant’ Amorim – in Jamie Carragher’s words – is very much on their radar.

Sources have also told TBR Football that the Saudi Pro League would ‘love’ to lure Amorim to the Middle East.

Could Manchester United sack Ruben Amorim?

Amorim has masterminded a brilliant European campaign which has seen Man United reach the Europa League final, where they will face Tottenham Hotspur.

And despite their poor domestic form, INEOS remain confident in Amorim and are reportedly prepared to back him heavily, with Man United aiming to make five new signings this summer.

In terms of outgoings, a big squad overhaul is expected with several players set to leave – led by Marcus Rashford, who has been linked with the likes of Aston Villa and Barcelona.

Others likely to be offloaded include Casemiro, Alejandro Garnacho, Christian Eriksen, Antony, Jadon Sancho, Jonny Evans, Tom Heaton, and Victor Lindelof.

Man United are also likely to make a change between the sticks, with Amorim seemingly keen on selling goalkeeper Andre Onana.
