Aston Villa manager Unai Emery has confirmed that Marcus Rashford will miss the Tottenham Hotspur game due to injury, and he’s ineligible against parent club Manchester United.

Rashford swapped Man United for Villa in the winter transfer window after becoming surplus to Ruben Amorim’s requirements at Old Trafford.

It proved a good decision as Rashford registered four goals and six assists in his 17 appearances in claret and blue, and he often started ahead of Ollie Watkins.

Now, TBR Football can reveal what Rashford’s camp has said to Villa, what the player thinks about a potential switch to Barcelona, and Man United’s stance on their player.

Marcus Rashford’s camp tells Aston Villa he’d consider returning even without Champions League football

TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey understands that Man United are standing by their £40million valuation of Rashford heading towards the summer window.

That is the sum that Aston Villa agreed to as their option when signing him on loan from the Red Devils.

We understand that Rashford’s camp have informed Villa that he is open about his plans, and whilst not committing to Villa, he has not ruled out returning.

Indeed, Rashford’s camp has told them that a Champions League finish isn’t necessarily needed for him to re-sign.

However, we understand that, once again, Rashford’s priority is to join Barcelona, and his camp have already had contact with the Catalan giants to gauge their interest.

The England striker does have the respect of president Joan Laporta and sporting director Deco – but we are told he is not one of their priorities at this point.

What Manchester United want to do with Marcus Rashford

Man United, for their part, are expecting Rashford to return to the club for pre-season.

They are not speculating on what that could look like in terms of being part of the squad under Ruben Amorim.

We understand Man United would ideally not want to loan Rashford again and are pushing for him to seek a permanent move.

As with January, his wages remain a huge issue for any club wanting to take him and would likely require him to take some sort of drop, which he has previously said no to.
