The season isn’t even over and Liverpool are about to make their first signing of the summer.
Indeed, the Premier League champions aren’t wasting any time in getting to work in this transfer window, and their first arrival is almost sealed.
Florian Wirtz has been linked to Liverpool, but it’s another star from the Bundesliga who could soon be Anfield bound.
Jeremie Frimpong has been linked to Liverpool recently, and according to Fabrizio Romano, that deal is now entering its final stages as the Reds look to tie this move up as they aim to bring in their Trent Alexander-Arnold replacement.

Jeremie Frimpong to Liverpool enters final stages
According to Fabrizio Romano, Jeremie Frimpong’s move to Liverpool has now entered the final stages as a move looks set to be complete shortly.
Liverpool need a new right-back as Trent Alexander-Arnold is set to join Real Madrid, and now, it appears as though they’ve got their man.
Frimpong is a shrewd addition, at £35m, he’s not a bank-breaker, while he also has the added benefit of being a homegrown player who should have no problems settling in the north west of England as he grew up in Manchester.
Jeremie Frimpong compared to Trent Alexander-Arnold
Frimpong will arrive at Liverpool as a key replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold, and comparing these two players statistically makes for interesting reading.
Alexander-Arnold and Frimpong clearly have different styles, as the numbers show.
Trent Alexander-Arnold | Jeremie Frimpong | |
32 | Games | 33 |
3 | Goals | 5 |
6 | Assists | 5 |
1.6 | Key passes per game | 0.9 |
3.8 | Long balls per game | 0.4 |
2.2 | Tackles per game | 1 |
1 | Interceptions per game | 0.2 |
Frimpong, much like Alexander-Arnold, is very attack-minded, as shown by his goals and assists this season, but, as the numbers show, he attacks in a very different way.
While Alexander-Arnold is a playmaker who has been compared to David Beckham, Frimpong doesn’t have the same passing abilities, as shown by his number of long balls and key passes.
However, what Frimpong does have is blistering pace and directness, and that causes its own problems for any opposition.
Worryingly, Alexander-Arnold also has better defensive stats than Frimpong, despite the fact the England star has often been criticised for his defending.
It remains to be seen how Frimpong gets on at Liverpool, but it would appear he will be wearing the famous red shirt next season.
